General Janta Party did not begin simply as another political organization. Its journey began with ReservationReform.org in 2024, moved into public action, expanded through GCMovement.org in 2026 and ultimately led to the beginning of General Janta Party on 21 May 2026.
In 2024, Umang Sharma began working on Reservation Reform through ReservationReform.org.
It started as a public-policy effort rather than a political party. The objective was to create awareness, encourage serious discussion and ask whether important public policies could be reviewed and debated as society changed.
The conversation centered on reservation policy, equal opportunity, fairness and the need for citizens to participate directly in debates that affect their future.
As more people connected with the issue, a larger question appeared: If citizens can come together around one public issue, why should they remain spectators in the rest of politics?
ReservationReform.org started the conversation. Public action gave it visibility. GC Movement created a wider network. General Janta Party created the political platform.
The story developed through awareness, public action, movement building and ultimately organized democratic politics.
The journey began with ReservationReform.org, started by founder Umang Sharma as a platform for public discussion and awareness around Reservation Reform.
The initiative sought to encourage debate around equal opportunity, policy review and how public systems should evolve with changing social and economic realities.
ReservationReform.orgThe journey moved from policy discussion into visible public participation during the Delhi UGC Rollback protest. The movement played an important role in the protest effort and mobilization.
During this period, Umang Sharma was placed under house arrest.
A turning point in the journey: the experience reinforced the need for a stronger, organized and permanent platform through which citizens could participate beyond a single protest or campaign.
The work expanded through the GC Movement, represented through GCMovement.org.
The movement helped connect citizens around Reservation Reform, equal opportunity, public awareness and collective participation. What began around one policy issue gradually became a wider citizen network.
GCMovement.orgOn 21 May 2026, General Janta Party began.
The decision represented an important shift: from movement-based advocacy toward long-term organized democratic politics.
GJP was created as a broader political platform where citizens could organize, participate locally, raise public issues, contribute ideas and help build political representation.
The journey continues through GJP membership, city-level organization, public events, General Assembly, Krantikari Network, Developed India and other citizen-participation initiatives.
Reservation Reform remains an important part of GJP's roots, while the political platform continues to expand into wider questions affecting Bharat's governance, development and future.
The journey began with Umang Sharma's work on Reservation Reform in 2024. ReservationReform.org created the initial platform for discussing the issue and building public awareness.
The experience of campaigning and public participation, including the Delhi UGC Rollback protest in March 2026, showed that online awareness alone was not enough. Citizens needed organization, continuity and a way to participate on the ground.
That effort expanded through GCMovement.org and the GC Movement, connecting people into a wider network.
On 21 May 2026, the journey entered organized politics through the beginning of General Janta Party. The aim was to build a permanent political platform larger than any one campaign or policy issue.
The political identity that emerged was clear: nationalist in outlook, rooted in Sanatan values, committed to equal opportunity and open to constructive democratic debate.
ReservationReform.org created a platform to raise questions and encourage policy discussion.
Campaigns and protests took the work from discussion into real-world participation.
GCMovement.org helped turn individual voices into a wider citizen network.
GJP was created to transform participation into a long-term democratic political platform.
General Janta Party sees Bharat not only as a modern democratic nation, but as a civilization with a deep cultural and spiritual inheritance. GJP's political outlook is pro-national and draws moral inspiration from Sanatan values.
The unity, security, strength, development and long-term national interest of Bharat remain central to the GJP political outlook.
GJP draws inspiration from values such as Dharma, truth, courage, self-discipline, service, responsibility and respect for society.
Rights and responsibilities belong together. Political leadership should be guided not only by power, but also by duty, accountability and service to the nation.
The symbol associated with General Janta Party is Garud — a sacred and powerful figure in Sanatan tradition.
Garud represents strength, courage, speed, vigilance and the ability to rise above limitations.
For GJP, Garud also represents the responsibility to protect Dharma, remain alert to challenges facing society and put the larger interest of Bharat above narrow personal interests.
The symbol connects the party's modern democratic political journey with the civilizational heritage from which it draws inspiration.
A symbol of strength, vision, courage, vigilance and Dharma.
For GJP, the word General represents the general public — ordinary citizens.
Politics should not belong only to established political families, powerful organizations or professional politicians. Ordinary citizens should also be able to organize, participate and influence public life.
GJP's journey has roots in Reservation Reform, but its long-term political purpose is broader: national interest, equal opportunity, skills, accountability, transparency, citizen participation and constructive reform.
If democracy belongs to the people, ordinary citizens should have a real platform through which they can participate.
A strong political identity can coexist with respectful democratic disagreement. GJP seeks to combine conviction with participation, responsibility and debate.
The strength, unity and long-term development of Bharat should remain above narrow interests.
Citizens should have fair opportunities to learn, grow, compete and contribute.
Policies should remain open to democratic discussion, review and responsible reform.
Education, skills and capability should be central to long-term empowerment and development.
Public systems and political organizations should remain understandable and accountable.
Democracy should involve citizens beyond voting once every few years.
Political participation should carry a sense of responsibility toward society and nation.
Political change should be pursued through peaceful, democratic and constitutional participation.
Political disagreement should be answered with arguments, facts and democratic discussion, not hatred toward people or communities.
ReservationReform.org remains the platform associated with the Reservation Reform initiative that began the journey.
GCMovement.org represents the GC Movement, which helped expand public awareness into a broader citizen network.
General Janta Party is the political platform that developed from that journey.
These are connected stages of one evolving story, but GJP is being built with a wider political scope than any one campaign.
